Social Minister Kátai-Németh files complaint over alleged misuse of public funds in Szerencs events

Social and Family Minister Kátai-Németh lodged a criminal complaint accusing officials of abusing office and mismanaging money tied to the Family-Friendly Hungary program’s events in Szerencs, including an Easter gathering in former minister Koncz Zsófia’s district.

In a Facebook-posted video, Social and Family Minister Kátai-Nemeth said he has filed a criminal complaint for suspected abuse of office and mismanagement of public money connected to the Family-Friendly Hungary program’s activities in Szerencs. He pointed to an Easter event organized in the former constituency of Fidesz minister Koncz Zsófia as an example of possible irregularities. The minister also drew attention to a contract under which 12,000 plastic mini-motor scooters were purchased from firms owned by Balásy Gyula for a net amount of 185.3 million, plus 3 million for applying the “family-friendly” stickers, a price he said far exceeds typical market costs.

The program, announced by former state secretary Koncz Zsófia, intended to distribute such toys to nearly 55,000 children in rural nurseries. Kátai-Nemeth’s complaint accuses those responsible of breaching fiduciary duties and misusing state resources.
