Social Security cards for newborns now include instructions for $1,000 Trump Account enrollment

The Social Security Administration has started attaching informational inserts about a $1,000 government investment account to newborns' Social Security cards.

The SSA’s Enumeration at Birth service now includes a government-issued insert that congratulates parents and outlines the steps to enroll a newborn in a Trump Account, a tax-advantaged investment vehicle for children. Children born from Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2028 who hold a valid Social Security number and U.S. citizenship qualify for a single $1,000 Treasury contribution, with the option to add up to $5,000 per year.

Parents are instructed to visit TrumpAccounts.gov, download the Trump Accounts app, and follow the enrollment process; the Treasury will then provide activation details. The SSA handles the number assignment and distribution of the informational material, while the Treasury oversees the funding. President Donald Trump has hinted that a similar program could eventually be offered to adults, and he claims the initiative already serves close to 80 million recipients.
