SOCSO launches higher unemployment benefits and new mobility allowance today
SOCSO announced that enhanced benefit rates under Act 800 take effect today for eligible contributors who lose their jobs, featuring a higher early re-employment allowance, a raised training fee ceiling and a one-off mobility assistance payment.
Effective immediately, contributors who become unemployed and meet the eligibility criteria can claim benefits under the revised Act 800, according to SOCSO. The Early Re-employment Allowance has been increased to half of the remaining Job Search Allowance, while the maximum training fee has been lifted to RM7,000 and the daily training allowance to RM30. A newly introduced Mobility Assistance Allowance provides a one-time RM1,000 payment for those who find work over 100 km away from their residence.
Applications are accepted through the LINDUNG Kerjaya portal or any SOCSO office. SOCSO estimates the average benefit per person to be about RM3,300 and expects the reforms to boost the labour market and support faster career transitions through job-matching services, counseling, retraining, upskilling and mobility support, aligning with the MADANI Government’s social-protection agenda.
