Software engineer wanted for US murder arrested in Agra after Interpol notice

Arjun Sharma, a 27-year-old software engineer from Chennai, is alleged to have murdered his ex-girlfriend Nikitha Godishala in Maryland on December 31, 2025, before escaping to India. He was found hiding in a residence at Shankar Green Residential Society in Agra and taken into custody by a Telangana Police team on August 24, after an Interpol Red Corner Notice and a U.S. extradition request were issued. The Delhi court, presided over by additional chief metropolitan magistrate Animesh Bhaskar Mani Tripathi, approved the extradition process, noting the case meets treaty criteria.

The CBI will manage the extradition proceedings, while local police in Agra and Telangana coordinated the arrest. The victim’s family had previously filed a cheating case in April 2026, which helped trace Sharma’s location.
