Sony Pictures Networks India Announces October Debut of Tamil General Entertainment Channel Vizha
Sony Pictures Networks India revealed that its new Tamil-language channel, Sony Vizha, will launch in October, featuring original dramas, reality shows and movies.
Sony Pictures Networks India confirmed that its first dedicated Tamil general-entertainment channel, Sony Vizha, is set to begin broadcasting in October. The brand identity, unveiled on Independence Day, incorporates the Tamil state song “Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu” and uses colors symbolising celebration and modernity. According to chief content officer Rajaraman Sundaram, the channel will offer a mix of original dramas, imported reality formats, movies and premium digital content, reflecting both Tamil heritage and contemporary tastes.
Planned flagship programs include Celebrity MasterChef Tamil and Tamil Idol, with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman serving as host. Sony Vizha will join SPNI’s existing portfolio of 29 channels that reach over 700 million viewers in India and are distributed in more than 150 countries. Further details about the schedule will be released as the launch date approaches.
