Sophie Adenot prepares for Earth return as Crew-13 docks with ISS
French astronaut Sophie Adenot is set to leave the International Space Station after Crew-13 arrived to relieve her crew.
A crew of four—Jessica Watkins, Luke Delaney, Joshua Kutryk and Sergueï Teteriatnikov—arrived aboard SpaceX's Dragon capsule and successfully berthed with the International Space Station early Thursday, completing a record-fast U.S. approach of 7 hours and 55 minutes. Their arrival allows French astronaut Sophie Adenot, who has logged more than 230 days in space and set a European record for mission length, to prepare for her return to Earth.
Adenot and her teammates will hand over duties to the incoming crew before the French astronaut departs, with NASA targeting a launch from the Pacific no earlier than Monday, subject to weather. After splashdown, she will be flown to Houston for medical checks and then transferred to ESA in Cologne for final debriefing and reunion with family.
Why it matters
Adenot's return ends a record-breaking European space mission and marks a routine crew rotation on the ISS.
