South Asian Screen Futures unveils eight new feature projects at Toronto market
The South Asian Screen Office of Canada and IFFSA Toronto announced eight South Asian feature films selected for the inaugural Toronto Film Festival market under the South Asian Screen Futures program.
The South Asian Screen Office of Canada, together with IFFSA Toronto and Storiculture, has curated a lineup of eight South Asian feature films for the debut Toronto Film Festival market, branded South Asian Screen Futures. The selection includes six single-country projects from Canada and India and a co-production spanning Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and Canada. Notable participants are Payal Kapadia, director of the Cannes-winning "All We Imagine as Light," producer Neeraj Churi, whose Sundance-winning "Cactus Pears" opened in the U.K. and Ireland, and writer-director Subhadra Mahajan, whose debut "Second Chance" has toured more than 40 festivals.
Other entries feature work by Kalainithan Kalaichelvan, Maya Bastian, Avi Grewal, Shubham Negi, Sourav Yadav, Seth Mohan, Esther Caszo, Razan Alsoghayer and Ritwik Goswami. The program will link the projects to potential financiers, sales agents and distributors, complementing the Canada-South Asia Screen Corridor’s goal of easing cross-border talent and story exchange.
