South Australia appoints three AI specialists to head new Royal Commission
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas announced a three-person panel, led by former judge Iain Ross, to run a Royal Commission on artificial intelligence.
The commission will be chaired by former federal court judge Iain Ross AO, with former Tech Council of Australia CEO Kate Pounder and AI scholar Christopher Manning as fellow commissioners. Malinauskas said the inquiry aims to maximize AI benefits while limiting negative impacts. Stakeholders such as businesses, unions, industry bodies, tech firms and academics are expected to provide input. The final report must be submitted to the government by July 1 of next year.
