South Australian man charged over online threats to the Australian Federal Police
A 40-year-old man from South Australia has been charged with using a communications service to menace the Australian Federal Police after police linked him to threatening social-media posts.
Police received intelligence about hostile messages aimed at the Australian Federal Police earlier this year. Investigators traced the posts to a 40-year-old resident of Adelaide and obtained a search warrant for his home. A mobile phone seized during the raid allegedly contained multiple threatening messages posted over several months. The suspect has been charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and released on police bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in September.
