South Delhi murder staged as robbery; wife and young lover arrested
Police say 55-year-old builder Munna Lal was killed by his wife Manju and her 20-year-old lover Chaman, who tried to make the scene look like a burglary.
In the early hours of Aug 10, authorities responded to a reported robbery in south Delhi's Ratiya Marg, where 55-year-old builder Munna Lal was found dead amid a disturbed home. Forensic analysis revealed he had been sedated, strangled, struck with a wooden stick, and subjected to electric shocks to his private area. Surveillance footage showed a masked figure entering the residence at 1.45 am and leaving at 3.15 am, while a woman and another person moved nearby during that period.
Police allege that Lal's 45-year-old wife Manju conspired with her 20-year-old lover Chaman, offering him Rs 5 lakh and future financial support to carry out the murder. After the killing, Manju paid Chaman Rs 20,000 and helped stage the house to resemble a break-in. A special team led by Joint CP Vijay Kumar and DCP Anant Mittal arrested Manju, Chaman and a third associate named Kishan, seizing Rs 15,000 in cash.
