South Korea and Czech Republic assess progress of joint nuclear plant project
South Korean Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan and Czech counterpart Karel Havlicek reviewed the Dukovany nuclear plant collaboration and discussed expanding bilateral cooperation.
Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan met online with Czech Industry Minister Karel Havlicek to evaluate the status of their joint nuclear venture at the Dukovany power plant. The discussion marked the third session of the Dukovany Steering Committee, confirming that the project proceeds as planned following the contract signed by a consortium led by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. The ministers explored ways to strengthen bilateral ties in the broader nuclear industry and Kim warned that the European Union’s Industrial Accelerator Act might impede non-EU actors, urging Prague to seek diplomatic safeguards. Both sides agreed to convene the fourth committee meeting in South Korea this year, alongside a series of business gatherings to foster exchanges between nuclear firms from the two nations.
