South Korea and Tajikistan sign pact to share financial data against money laundering

The Korea Financial Intelligence Unit and Tajikistan’s Financial Monitoring Department signed a memorandum to exchange financial information and strengthen anti-money-laundering cooperation.

The Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) and Tajikistan’s Financial Monitoring Department, which operates under the National Bank of Tajikistan, formalised a memorandum of understanding in Seoul. The pact, disclosed by the Financial Services Commission, creates a framework for exchanging financial information between the two bodies. Officials highlighted that the cooperation will help identify and analyse dubious capital flows.

By sharing intelligence, the agencies intend to reinforce their anti-money-laundering and terrorism-financing controls. The agreement reflects a broader push by both countries to tighten financial oversight. No further details on implementation timelines were provided.
