South Korea's EV complaints surge nearly double in three years, prompting oversight warning
South Korean authorities say electric-vehicle related complaints have almost doubled over the last three years, reaching about 173,000 filings and triggering a warning system.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission reported that between August 2023 and July this year roughly 173,000 EV complaints and petitions were submitted via the online portal and local governments, with monthly cases rising from 3,683 to 6,578. This increase activated a "complaints advisory" warning. Most submissions focus on violations of charging-area rules and calls for more stations. The commission has urged the responsible agencies to tighten supervision, improve upkeep, and expand charging infrastructure.
