South Korea's overseas direct investment climbs to $20.5 billion in Q2
South Korea's overseas direct investment reached US$20.52 billion in the April-June quarter, up from the same period last year, driven by finance and communications sectors.
According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, South Korea's overseas direct investment totaled US$20.52 billion in the April-June period, surpassing the US$15.5 billion recorded in the comparable quarter of the previous year. The increase has continued on a yearly basis since Q3 2025. Investment in the financial and insurance sector rose to $10.48 billion, reflecting a strong push by Korean firms to diversify globally.
The information and communication sector saw its outflow more than triple, reaching $2.73 billion. By destination, the United States attracted $8.86 billion, Japan received $2.46 billion after a sharp rise, and Luxembourg saw $1.59 billion invested.
