South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik began a nine-day tour of Europe, visiting Italy, Vatican City, Croatia and Greece. In Italy, he is set to sit down with Lorenzo Fontana, president of the Chamber of Deputies, and Gian Marco Centinaio, vice president of the Senate, to expand parliamentary dialogue and explore joint economic projects. His Vatican City agenda includes discussions with Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Cardinal Lazarus You Heung-sik, emphasizing South Korea’s commitment to World Youth Day 2027 and requesting continued Vatican support for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
In Croatia, Cho will meet President Zoran Milanovic, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic to discuss cooperation in advanced technologies, energy and defence sectors. The final leg in Greece involves talks with President Constantine Tassoulas and Hellenic Parliament Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis on shipbuilding, electric vehicles, battery production and renewable energy initiatives.
