South Korean premier pledges smooth rollout of Global AI Hub initiative

At the inaugural meeting of the preparation committee, Prime Minister Han Seong-sook pledged seamless government action to launch South Korea’s Global AI Hub. She outlined plans to establish a dedicated support framework and to select the optimal site via transparent, merit-based processes. The hub, first presented in May, seeks to gather AI capabilities from nine global organizations and five multilateral development banks to tackle problems such as pandemics and climate change.

Han framed the effort as a step toward an “AI-based society” where AI benefits are shared equitably worldwide. She described the hub as the centerpiece of the country’s policy to extend AI advantages to all humanity. The initiative is positioned as a collaborative platform delivering AI solutions to pressing global challenges.
