Southern Score Builders awarded RM180 million contract for new private hospital in Melaka

Southern Score Builders Bhd has been awarded a RM180 million contract to carry out the main building works for a private hospital complex in Bukit Katil, Melaka. The scope covers a seven-storey hospital, a three-storey parking structure, mechanical and electrical utility building, pump house, waste house, VIE tank, and extensive interior and exterior fit-out, including façade treatment, lighting, kitchen equipment, landscaping and a link bridge to a therapeutic garden.

Construction is scheduled to commence on 15 October 2026 and will run for 19 months, with a target finish date of 14 May 2028. Southern Score said the project will contribute to its net assets and earnings per share beginning in the fiscal year ending 30 June 2027. The agreement is a related-party transaction because the siblings of director and major shareholder Gan Yu Chai are directors and major shareholders of Radium Development Bhd, the ultimate holding company of Radium Hospital Ayer Keroh Sdn Bhd.

Director Sydney Lim Tau Chin also sits on Radium’s board and holds less than one percent of its equity. The company confirmed it had shareholder approval for recurring related-party deals at its AGM on 9 Dec 2025 and that the contract does not require further shareholder or regulator sign-off.
