Southern Spain to Experience Indian Summer with Temperatures Above 25°C

A subtropical air mass will push temperatures over 25 °C in southern and eastern Spain on October 25-26, bringing a brief Indian-summer spell.

Forecasters predict that a subtropical air mass will sweep across Spain on Sunday, October 25, causing daytime temperatures to exceed 25 °C in much of the south and along the Mediterranean coast. The strongest heat is expected on Monday, with places like Andalusia, the Guadalquivir Valley and the southern Canary Islands potentially hitting 30-32 °C. Inland regions such as Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha are also likely to stay above 25 °C through the end of October.

AEMET expects stable weather through early November, but a low-pressure trough could bring cooler air to northern areas like Cantabria, Galicia and Castilla y León by mid-week. Nighttime lows will remain cooler, dropping below 15 °C in many interior zones. The exact duration of this Indian-summer pattern remains uncertain, with models suggesting it could linger into early November before a broader cooling trend sets in.

Why it matters

The heat spell offers a brief warm respite for residents and tourists before autumn fully sets in.
