SpaceX imposes speed cap on Starshield, disrupting Ukrainian drone operations

SpaceX suddenly limited the speed of its Starshield satellite internet for military drones, causing connections to drop when Ukrainian UAVs exceed 160 km/h.

In a surprise move, SpaceX introduced a speed restriction on the Starshield service used by Ukraine's armed forces. Any drone traveling faster than 160 km per hour loses its link to the network. This affects high-speed platforms such as the Middle Strike drones that the Ukrainian army relies on for strike missions and counter-drone work.

Why it matters

The speed limit hampers Ukraine's ability to conduct fast-moving drone missions, affecting its defensive and offensive operations.
