Spain’s OCU consumer association warns that the upcoming October review of the regulated TUR gas tariff could lift prices by 54%, adding roughly €310 to the annual heating bill of a typical gas-heated home. For a household consuming about 9,000 kWh a year, the total cost may rise from roughly €600 to nearly €910. The increase is driven by the variable component of the tariff, which tracks wholesale gas prices and is expected to move from just over four cents to close to seven cents per kilowatt hour.
Only customers subscribed to TUR 1, 2 or 3 - offered by Naturgy, Iberdrola, Endesa and TotalEnergies - will be directly affected; others on free-market contracts face separate price dynamics. OCU advises against rushing to fixed-price deals, noting that the regulated tariff should remain cheaper than most current fixed offers. Consumers are urged to wait until the official October 1 rate is published before comparing options.
