Persistent inflation, low productivity growth and declining real wages are eroding Spaniards' purchasing power, forcing many to seek extra income. According to the latest EPA figures, the count of individuals holding more than one job has climbed to a record level for the quarter. INE statistics show that over the past year thousands of new multi-job workers have been added, with a roughly even split between men and women, though women's share is proportionally larger.
The services sector dominates the landscape, employing the bulk of these workers. The rise follows a sharp post-pandemic acceleration, continuing a trend that began in 2018 and has more than doubled over the last decade.
