Spanish police seize 644 firearms from covert workshop linked to criminal networks
The Policía Nacional dismantled a criminal group, confiscating 644 guns and arresting seven suspects in Gerona, Badajoz and Valencia.
Operation Javeli n, carried out by the Policía Nacional, broke up a criminal organization that sourced, altered and distributed illegal firearms. The core of the arsenal was found in a storage unit in Figueras, Girona, turned into a clandestine workshop capable of converting blank-fire, acoustic and detonator guns into lethal weapons. Officials confiscated a total of 644 firearms, including 221 already modified, plus silencers, oversized magazines, specialized machinery and vast quantities of ammunition.
Seven suspects - six men and one woman - were arrested in Gerona, Badajoz and Valencia, and the primary accused was jailed. The group is believed to have fed arms to other criminal factions involved in narcotics and kidnappings, operating with regional and international links. The Catalan government delegate highlighted the bust as a strike against a major supply point for organized crime. The investigation continues to trace the origins of the seized weapons and may lead to further arrests.
