Spanish safety agency warns of glass in specific batch of EROSKI ricotta sauce
Spain's food safety authority has issued a recall for a single batch of EROSKI ricotta sauce after reports of glass fragments, urging consumers to check the batch code LA310CRI01.
AESAN released a food safety alert after receiving information from Navarra that glass fragments might be present in EROSKI's 350 g ricotta sauce, batch number LA310CRI01, imported from Italy. The notice, circulated via the SCIRI rapid-information system, targets only this specific batch and does not affect other EROSKI sauces or brands. Shoppers are instructed to verify the batch code on their jars, avoid consumption, and return the product to any EROSKI outlet.
No injuries have been reported, and the source of the glass contamination remains unknown. A separate ricotta sauce made by IAN, SA is explicitly excluded from the alert. The alert was first published on October 22, with follow-up reports on October 23.
Why it matters
Consumers need to identify and discard a potentially hazardous food product to avoid injury.
