Speaker Johnson crisscrosses the nation on a busy August campaign tour
Speaker Mike Johnson spent his August recess traveling to dozens of states, campaigning for Republican candidates in key House races.
Speaker Mike Johnson used the August recess to embark on an extensive cross-country campaign, aiming to preserve the Republican majority and help Donald Trump secure a congressional trifecta. Over the past three weeks he has toured states from Maine to Alaska, campaigning with more than a dozen candidates, including three of the party’s fifteen toss-up seats in Pennsylvania. Johnson also met with incumbents such as Derek Van Orden, Juan Ciscomani, Jen Kiggans and Gabe Evans, highlighting their role in the narrow House margin.
The trip featured stops with former Gov. Paul LePage in Maine and former NFL kicker Jay Feely in Arizona, promoting his "Contrast for America" message that pits "common sense" against Democrats. He also appeared in Democratic-held swing districts, backing GOP challengers like Laurie Buckhout in North Carolina and John Braun in Washington. The speaker’s itinerary continues with planned visits to New York, New Jersey, Texas, Nevada and New Mexico to push the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and rally support in pivotal battlegrounds.
