Special tax deduction introduced to boost corporate involvement in i-FB food bank scheme

The government will offer a special tax deduction for entities that contribute food, equipment or support to the Ihsan Food Bank Initiative, aiming to widen corporate participation.

Budget 2027 includes a new tax incentive designed to encourage strategic partners, especially corporations, to support the Ihsan Food Bank Initiative (i-FB). The special deduction applies to contributions of food, equipment and operational assistance and will be in effect from next year until the end of 2030, with implementation details to be worked out with the Finance Ministry. Minister Armizan Mohd Ali highlighted that the measure aligns with broader efforts to expand the food-bank network and reduce living costs for vulnerable populations.

At a university alumni dinner, grants were awarded to the UMS Student Consumer Movement to establish dedicated i-FB spaces on campuses for collecting and distributing donated food to students in need. The initiative is coordinated by the Cost of Living Division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living and aims to involve government agencies, private firms, NGOs and individuals.
