Spellbook CEO urges staff to submit rough drafts, not AI-polished proposals

Spellbook’s co-founder and CEO, Scott Stevenson, issued new internal guidelines urging workers to submit the "D+ version" of their plans rather than fully polished AI drafts. He explained that while AI can quickly generate sleek prose, it often results in overly long, repetitive text that obscures genuine thought, especially in unconstrained writing. The policy mandates that any AI-drafted material be disclosed and that AI be limited to supplemental items like tables, not the main body of proposals.

Stevenson also stressed that customer communications must remain handwritten to preserve a sense of authentic care. The memo reflects broader industry concerns, echoing similar warnings from Synthesia and Clay about AI-driven “sloppification.”
