SpiceJet delays multiple Delhi departures, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded
SpiceJet flights from Delhi to Leh, Jammu and Dubai were delayed on September 19 due to operational issues, stranding hundreds of passengers.
SpiceJet announced that on September 19 its Delhi-Leh (SG121), Delhi-Jammu (SG127, SG2160) and Delhi-Dubai (SG5111) services were delayed for operational reasons, causing hundreds of passengers to be stranded. Flight-tracking data shows the Dubai flight finally left at 9:42 a.m., after an initial 7:45 a.m. slot. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience and noted that the affected flights have since landed.
Delhi Airport officials said ground crews were coordinating with the airline to aid the disrupted travelers. The delays come amid a prolonged financial strain on SpiceJet, which has left a sizable portion of its fleet grounded. The carrier has been seeking financing through the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, while the civil aviation minister said the government is in regular contact with the airline about its challenges.
