SpiceJet flight to Dubai held up for almost 18 hours at Amritsar
A SpiceJet service bound for Dubai was delayed nearly 18 hours at Amritsar airport, prompting angry passengers and calls for refunds.
At Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, a SpiceJet flight scheduled for a morning departure to Dubai was postponed repeatedly, ultimately leaving the aircraft on the tarmac for almost 18 hours. The airline first moved the take-off time to mid-morning, then early afternoon, and finally to around 2 am the following day, offering no satisfactory reason. Passengers grew increasingly upset, chanting against the carrier and demanding answers, while several asked for refunds after being stranded.
Deepak Kumar, traveling from Phagwara, worried about missing his job start date, and Anchal Sood, a mother from Ludhiana with a six-year-old, criticized the lack of timely updates about a reported technical issue. Travelers also complained that SpiceJet staff did not arrange hotel rooms or explain their entitlement under DGCA passenger-rights guidelines, a problem amplified for those with young children enduring hot, humid conditions outside the terminal.
