Spotify adds option for parents to keep kids' songs out of personal recommendations

Spotify announced a new control that allows parents and other users to opt out of having children’s and family-oriented music affect their recommendation engine. Effective Sept. 15, the feature is available worldwide on mobile devices for both Free and Premium subscribers and can be switched off in the Settings menu. When disabled, tracks such as nursery rhymes, Disney songs, and other family-friendly content will no longer contribute to Discover Weekly, Daily Mix, or the annual Wrapped rankings, and the change is applied retroactively to past listening history.

The music remains searchable and playable, but it is excluded from the taste profile. This follows earlier tools like managed accounts for kids under 13 and the separate Spotify Kids app for Premium Family plans. The company frames the update as part of ongoing efforts to give parents more control over their listening environment.
