Spotify Elevates Joe Hadley to Lead Global Music Content and Partnerships

Spotify announced that Joe Hadley has been promoted to vice president responsible for global music editorial and partnership teams.

Spotify confirmed Joe Hadley's elevation to vice president of global music content and partnerships, placing him in charge of the service's editorial and partnership operations worldwide. Hadley, a 2022 hire, will answer to Charlie Hellman, the senior vice president and global head of music. Previously titled global head of music partnerships and audience, he brings experience from his former role as head of hip-hop and R&B at CAA, where he represented artists including Beyoncé and A$AP Rocky, and earlier work at Windish.

The company also named J.J. Italiano as head of editorial, reporting directly to Hadley; Italiano previously worked at Spotify from 2017 to 2019, then at YouTube before returning in 2022. Hellman highlighted the importance of editorial judgment and artist advocacy in the new structure.

Why it matters

The new leadership could influence how Spotify curates music and negotiates with artists and labels.
