Spotify expands AI-powered Running Mode to Android users in multiple countries
Spotify has launched its AI-driven Running Mode on Android devices across several major markets.
Spotify announced that its AI-based Running Mode, initially released for iOS, is now available on Android in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Integrated into the app’s Fitness Hub, the tool assembles playlists matched to a runner’s pace, distance and genre preferences, with 25 preset workout options and settings for beat matching and audio cues. The feature revives a 2018 running experiment and reflects Spotify’s broader fitness push, including the Prompted Playlists service launched in January 2026 and a recent collaboration with Peloton.
Spotify reported that requests for workout-focused playlists were among the most common prompts from users. This rollout underscores the company’s strategy to blend AI and exercise experiences.
