Springboks clinch 3-1 series win over All Blacks, coach Rennie admits disappointment

In the final test of the four-match series, the Springboks overcame the All Blacks 43-28 at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, sealing a 3-1 series triumph and retaining the Greatest Rivalry trophy. Coach Dave Rennie said he felt “gutted” after the defeat, though he praised the team’s development over the grueling eight-match tour. New Zealand entered the match without skipper Ardie Savea, Luke Jacobson and Quinn Tupaea, who had returned home injured following the third test.

Rennie highlighted the South Africans’ electric and clinical play as a key factor, while also noting areas for improvement such as high-ball handling and breakdown discipline. Veteran Beauden Barrett earned his 145th cap and scored a late try, and halfback Kyle Preston featured in all eight tour games. The All Blacks now have a short break before the upcoming Bledisloe Cup matches in October.
