Spy Baby car monitor recalled after safety defect threatens drivers
Consumers are advised to stop using the Spy Baby car monitor immediately after a fault was found that could cause the screen to detach and endanger drivers.
A safety alert from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has triggered an urgent recall of the Spy Baby car monitor after reports of adhesive pad failures. When the pad melts or separates, the monitor’s screen can detach from windshields or dashboards, posing a risk of serious injury or death if it strikes the driver or distracts them. The recall is limited to units purchased between 8 September 2026 and 2 October 2026 that feature the new packaging, identifiable by barcode 9369900114806.
Consumers are urged to cease using the device immediately and to remove it from any vehicle. Spy Baby has offered replacements or refunds to affected customers who contact the company. The alert emphasizes the potential for accidents caused by the falling screen and advises prompt action.
