Stability AI announced a $76 million Series B financing, pushing its cumulative funding to $232 million since its 2022 launch of the open-source Stable Diffusion model. Led by CEO Prem Akkaraju, the round attracted the three major record labels—Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment—as well as Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. These investors have already signed agreements with Stability AI to develop new generative AI tools that leverage their music catalogs and gaming assets.
Returning supporters include Greycroft, Kadmos Capital and Coatue, with Coatue co-founder Thomas Laffont slated to join the board. Individual contributors such as Eric Schmidt and Sean Parker also reaffirmed their commitment. The company recently unveiled Stable Audio 3.0, an audio model built on licensed data, underscoring its focus on creative-focused AI for musicians and storytellers.
