Stalin reprimands DMK legislators for light-hearted remarks in budget debate
DMK chief M K Stalin summoned several party MLAs, including K Karthikeyan, to criticize their jokes and self-praise during the recent budget session.
During a meeting on Monday, DMK president M K Stalin chastised a group of party MLAs for treating the budget debates as a platform for personal bragging and jokes. Among those singled out was Rishivandiyam MLA K Karthikeyan, who openly credited his electoral ticket to his closeness with public works minister Aadhav Arjuna. Stalin emphasized that the live-streamed sessions should focus on exposing shortcomings of the TVK government, not on frivolous comments.
Senior figures such as former chief minister O Panneerselvam and former ministers Thangam Thennarasu and M R K Panneerselvam also participated, with some remarks drawing laughter from the house. Former minister S Regupathy recalled past AIADMK ties while noting Stalin's directive for members to stay on topic and highlight governmental failures.
