Stan Kroenke agrees to purchase controlling interest in Los Angeles Angels for $4 billion
Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams and other sports franchises, has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in the Los Angeles Angels for an estimated $4 billion, the highest price cited for a Major League Baseball team. Arte Moreno, who bought the club in 2003, will retain an undisclosed minority share after the deal. The transaction adds Major League Baseball to Kroenke Sports & Entertainment’s portfolio, which already includes teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL and English soccer.
Fans have responded positively, citing Kroenke’s history of championships with his other clubs. The sale still requires approval from Major League Baseball.
