Stanley Cup makes a hometown tour with Hurricanes goalie Brandon Bussi

Brandon Bussi, the Carolina Hurricanes’ goalie who helped clinch the Stanley Cup with a shutout in Game 6, is set to return the trophy to Long Island, the region where his hockey journey began. He will exhibit the Cup at The Rinx ice arena in Hauppauge from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m., the venue where he first put on goalie gear as a child. During the same visit, the Suffolk County sports hall of fame will recognize him as its first sports person of the year.

Later that day, Bussi will honor the island’s first Stanley Cup winner, defenseman Rob Scuderi, by taking the Cup to Bracco’s on the Nautical Mile in Freeport, a bar Scuderi frequented after his 2009 and 2014 victories. Scuderi, now an assistant with the Nashville Predators, expressed gratitude for the tribute, noting its rarity and community significance. Bussi hopes the displays will motivate the next generation of local players. He also hinted at a festive evening, joking that some drinks might end up in the Cup.
