State Department task force cancels over 600 visas linked to birth-tourism scheme

Marco Rubio disclosed that a State Department task force, formed last month to address birth-tourism, has successfully revoked more than 600 visas within a thirty-day period. The group reviewed the activities of visa holders, dismantled organized schemes that coach foreign nationals to secure U.S. citizenship for their children, and stopped the use of forged documents. Rubio described the practice as a “heinous abuse” of American law.

This announcement comes after President Donald Trump signed two executive orders intended to curb birthright citizenship, a response to a recent Supreme Court decision that rejected an earlier Trump order on the 14th Amendment. Trump called the Court’s ruling “very unfortunate” and said the new orders would expand the categories of children ineligible for automatic citizenship, including those of designated foreign adversaries. The task force’s actions represent the administration’s first concrete step to enforce the new policy direction.
