State Executive Council unanimously backs proclamation to dethrone Tuanku Muhriz

During a September 15 meeting, the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council announced that its members reached a unanimous decision to issue a proclamation removing the incumbent Yang Dipertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz, and appointing Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as his successor. The council directed the state secretariat to proceed with publishing the proclamation in line with existing procedures, noting that the document, dated April 19, had been signed and embossed by the Undang Luak, thereby giving it legal effect.

The council declined to answer further media inquiries. Conversely, Raja Norazli Raja Nordin, head of the Department of Justice and Customs, stated that the council's resolution carries no legal weight because matters of royal selection, installation, and dismissal fall under the authority of the Undang as defined in Article XVI of the 1959 State Constitution. He warned that state officials cannot act on instructions to depose Tuanku Muhriz, as such actions would violate the constitution and council regulations.
