Steak 'n Shake to debut grass-fed Protein Steakburger and Double Steakburger on Sept. 1

Steak 'n Shake announced it will add a Protein Steakburger and a Double Steakburger Double Cheese to its menu on Sept. 1, featuring grass-fed beef.

Steak 'n Shake said it will launch two new burger options on Sept. 1, highlighting its use of 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef. The Protein Steakburger, presented with lettuce instead of a bun, provides 530 calories, 31 g of protein and 6 g of carbohydrates. The Double Steakburger Double Cheese, served on a regular bun, offers 690 calories, 31 g of protein and 38 g of carbohydrates.

These items are part of the chain’s ongoing effort to simplify its menu and increase ingredient transparency, a strategy tied to the Make America Healthy Again initiative. Earlier this year the company hired Michael Boes as its first chief MAHA officer to oversee nutritional integrity. The launch has drawn praise from Donald Trump on social media and positive comments from some customers.

Why it matters

The new burgers show a major fast-food brand shifting toward grass-fed beef and clearer nutrition info.
