Steelers evaluate former UTPB standout Ben Patterson in latest receiver tryout
Pittsburgh invited undrafted wideout Ben Patterson to a workout as they continue to reshuffle their receiver group.
During training camp, the Steelers added another candidate to their wide receiver rotation by bringing in Ben Patterson for a workout. Patterson, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound athlete from the University of Texas Permian Basin, posted a standout 2025 season with 32 receptions, 678 yards and five touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-Lone Star Conference honors and averaging 21.2 yards per catch. His pre-draft metrics included an 8.49 RAS and a 4.45-second 40-yard dash, which attracted NFL interest despite going undrafted in 2026.
He briefly signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent before being waived on Aug. 2. The Steelers have not committed to signing him yet, continuing their ongoing receiver room adjustments.
