Stepfather Nathan Owens shown in court footage as he is arrested for murder of 19-year-old student
Body-cam video of Nathan Owens' arrest was presented at his murder trial for the killing of his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Carla Georgescu.
At Preston Crown Court, prosecutors aired body-cam footage of Nathan Owens being arrested on suspicion of murdering his stepdaughter, 19-year-old Carla Georgescu, a clinical psychology student at the University of Lancashire. CCTV recorded Carla allowing Owens into her Ribble Hall student accommodation in Preston at around 4 a.m. on February 4, after he had driven more than 100 miles from Hartlepool. Owens was seen leaving an hour and a half later, concealed by an umbrella, wearing Carla's trainers and carrying two bags; items later found contained her DNA.
After the killing, Owens is reported to have searched online for ways police investigate suspicious deaths and erased data from his computer and phone. The prosecution highlighted his alleged sexual fixation on Carla, including the use of a life-sized effigy, while Owens maintains his innocence and denies all charges.
