Stephan James and Colton Ryan Join Paramount+ Legal Thriller Discretion

Paramount+ announced that actors Stephan James and Colton Ryan have been cast as regulars in the upcoming drama Discretion, joining Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and Josh Lucas. Production on the A24-backed legal thriller started this week, aiming for a 2027 release on the platform. The narrative follows Elle Fanning’s character, a summer associate at a Dallas law firm, who uncovers a network of non-disclosure agreements protecting a hidden secret, drawing the ire of the firm’s top female partner, played by Kidman.

James will take on the role of Logan, an associate who becomes a mentor to the protagonist, while Ryan will appear as Boone, Lenny’s former boyfriend and a recovering addict from a wealthy Dallas family. The series is based on a short story by Chandler Baker, who also writes the adaptation, with executive producers including Susannah Grant, Matt Shakman, and Kidman’s Blossom Films among others.
