Steven Soderbergh steps in to finish filming of The Batman Part II

Steven Soderbergh will assist in completing the final weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part II while director Matt Reeves attends to a family matter.

Director Matt Reeves has taken a hiatus from The Batman Part II to address an ongoing family matter. To keep production on schedule, Steven Soderbergh has offered to step in and oversee the remaining weeks of principal photography. DC Studios confirmed that Soderbergh will collaborate closely with Reeves, the actors and the crew, aiming to produce footage that integrates smoothly with existing scenes.

Both directors intend to preserve Reeves' creative direction throughout the process. The arrangement has the full backing of the studio, and Soderbergh expressed his admiration for Reeves' work on the franchise. Production is expected to continue under this joint effort until the film is completed.

Why it matters

The swap ensures the high-budget sequel stays on track despite the original director's temporary absence.
