Støre announces cabinet reshuffle with three ministers replaced on Friday
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed a reshuffle, removing three ministers and appointing new heads for digitalisation, transport and climate portfolios.
On Friday, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will present a new cabinet line-up during a council of state at the Royal Palace. The reshuffle sees Digitalisation Minister Karianne Tung, Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård and Climate and Environment Minister Andreas Bjelland Eriksen exit the government. Torgeir Micaelsen, currently a state secretary in the Finance Ministry, will assume the digitalisation portfolio.
Kamzy Gunaratnam, a parliamentarian from Oslo, will replace Nygård as transport minister, while Sigrun Aasland, presently a state secretary for research and higher education, will become climate and environment minister. Additionally, Eileen Fugelsnes will be appointed minister for research and higher education as Aasland moves to the climate post.
Why it matters
The reshuffle alters leadership of key ministries, potentially shifting Norway's policy direction in digitalisation, transport and climate.
