Støre says government will keep electricity prices under control

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre told the Labour Party conference that the state will continue to manage electricity tariffs, though the exact future level remains uncertain.

At the Labour Party's national council meeting, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre asserted that the administration is actively working to keep electricity prices in check through policy decisions. He highlighted that families in the municipality where he was speaking are already seeing savings under the national price option. While the precise price for the following year has not been disclosed, the government has announced a review of the pricing framework starting from the new year.

Støre said the review will follow the established procedure applied when the national price was first introduced, ensuring an annual assessment of appropriate levels. He described the national price as a social-democratic reform that makes an otherwise unpredictable market more predictable for consumers.
