Strong autumn gusts sweep Finland with dangerous wind bursts

An autumn storm hits Finland on Tuesday, bringing gusts that reach dangerous speeds across most of the country except Lapland.

Finland will experience an autumn storm on Tuesday, delivering strong wind bursts that could become hazardous in most regions except Lapland. The Finnish Meteorological Institute reports that western areas may see gusts surpassing 20 meters per second, nearing the threshold for a meteorological storm. The most intense gusts are forecast for midday, particularly in the western counties, while the Helsinki area will feel winds strengthening around noon and peaking in the late afternoon at about 15 meters per second.

Experts caution that such winds can topple weakened trees, cause power cuts, and dislodge unsecured objects, though large-scale damage in the capital is not expected. Winds are projected to weaken by Tuesday night, with residual gusts persisting into Wednesday, especially in northern parts of the country.
