Students call for black clothing protest against mandatory school uniforms

After the Senate passed a draft law requiring mandatory school uniforms, the National Student Council launched a protest urging students across the country to attend classes dressed in black. The initiative is voluntary, and pupils can simply wear any black item they already own. Council representatives claim that imposing uniforms will not solve problems like social inequality, bullying, or the financial burden on families, noting that the cost of uniforms for hundreds of thousands of students could reach hundreds of millions of lei.

They emphasize that education reforms should focus on resource allocation rather than clothing mandates. The bill now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for a decisive vote, and the council hopes the black-clothing demonstration will draw attention to their concerns.
