Students flee Satya Niketan after building collapse raises safety fears

Following a building collapse in Satya Niketan, New Delhi, dozens of student tenants are emptying their rooms and looking for alternative housing, citing fears that neighboring structures may also be at risk. The incident has revived concerns about the poor ventilation, unsafe staircases, and inadequate fire safety of many old apartments in the area. Financial constraints make relocation difficult for many, as exemplified by Rahul, who pays a modest rent but lacks basic amenities. Local shopkeeper Ramesh is also moving his stock to protect his livelihood from potential debris. While initial reports of mobile jammers were denied by Delhi Police, volunteers have been distributing food and supplies to rescue teams.
