Students' party leaves house in Castletroy gutted and windows shattered
A house in Castletroy, Limerick, was heavily damaged during a late-night party, prompting a Garda investigation.
Gardaí responded to reports of extensive criminal damage at a house on College Court in the Castletroy suburb of Limerick city during the early morning of 7 October 2026. The property was left with walls and ceilings torn down, windows smashed and bathroom fittings destroyed after a group of youths, described as students, threw a shelving unit through a window and a wheelie bin at glass doors. Footage shared on social media captures the chaos, including a view of the first-floor ceiling reduced to a void exposing attic joists and insulation littering the floor.
Authorities have sealed the scene and are carrying out a technical examination while the investigation continues. The nearby University of Limerick confirmed it is monitoring the situation, emphasizing its commitment to responsible behaviour and noting that violations of its student code are dealt with seriously.
